Discuss the impact of community in a school
Community is a group of
people living in the same place or having a particular characteristics in
common. It is commonly considered as social unit (a group of people) who have
the same thing in common such as norms, values, identity and often a sense of
place that is situated in a given geographical area example, a village, town or
neighbourhood.
School is an institution
disigned to provide learning space and learning environment for teaching of
students under the direction of teachers.
Communities in school involves the
organization of school, boards, students, teacher, parents etc. with the same
aims. The following are the impacts of communities in school as explained
below.
It has been shown to
help at risk students stay in school and graduate. In 2011, communities in
school realised the results of the most comprehensive evaluation of a dropout
preventation organization over conducted. After 5 years of rigorous study, the
result demonstrate that ‘CIS’ model of integrated student services in unique in
having positive effect on both reducing dropout rate and increasing graduation
rates.
Increase probability of
student transition into post secondary education and training, which will again
increase lifetime earning and tax revenue. Also u better understanding of the
integrated program and services provided by CIS is explained in ‘communities’
in schools and mode of integrated student services.
Improved health, the
communities in school improves with condition of students. By facilitating
cleaness and building of toilets, dispensary near the school.
Reduction in
unemployment, also communities in schools provides employment opportunities to
students after finishing their studies. The school boards choose same of the
students to be employed as the teacher or servant at school.
Increase investment. As
recipients of communities in school investments a parent age of these high
schools graduates will leave the country labour force and affect the affiliates
overall economic impact on labour and tax contribution.
Generally the
paralyzing effects of the dropouts’ epidemic on individuals, families, society
and the economy as a whole are well documented. Combating this problem has
become the mission of many groups in the Unites States and one such national
non-profit organization is communities in school. For the last 35 years CIS has
become the national leader in school dropout prevention and intervation.
